Marijuana is now legal in 11 states and the District of Columbia. Texas is not one of those states, and the Governor wants people to remember that. Especially the district attorneys in the state of Texas.

Some district attorneys in the state of Texas have said that they're going to temporarily stop prosecuting misdemeanor marijuana cases. So the Governor sent a letter that included the following:

Marijuana has not been decriminalized in Texas, and these actions demonstrate a misunderstanding of how H.B. 1325 works. The power to change the law is legislative and rests with the Texas Legislature under the Texas Constitution. Since H.B. 1325 did not repeal the marijuana laws of Texas, as Judicial Branch Members, you should continue to enforce those laws by 'faithfully executing the duties of the office of the [District or County Attorney], of the State of Texas, and ... to the best of [your] ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State.

State legislature has legalized hemp and CBD products with less than .3% THC. Unfortunately the tests that are currently available can only detect if there is THC present at all, not the specific level of THC.
