NBC has been surprisingly quiet about ‘SNL’'s impending 40th anniversary special, but VH1 has upped the nostalgia ante in a major way. VH1 Classic will begin a 19-day marathon of ‘SNL’'s 40 years on January 28, working backwards through 433 episodes and staging themed mini-marathons along the way.

VH1 Classic has affirmed its commitment to metal with ‘That Metal Show’ going strong for nine seasons and the newly launched ‘Metal Evolution’ documentary which is now airing each Saturday night, taking an anthropological look at the genesis and development of the genre. Now, the network has announced that it will dip into the vault and air ‘Behind the Music Remastered: Anthrax‘ on Dec. 3 at 9 PM

Aspiring musicians will soon be seen having a chance to ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ and maybe experience a little ‘Hysteria.’ Paul Stanley of Kiss and Phil Collen of Def Leppard are among the special guests on the new season of  VH1 Classic’s ‘Rock N’ Roll Fantasy Camp,’ which begins Aug. 20 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

A who’s who of hard rock heroes will grace the Los Angeles set of the VH1 Classic series ‘That Metal Show,’ which begins its eighth season Aug. 20 at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The impressive guest list includes Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and Slipknot/Stone Sour front man Corey Taylor. Talk about your heavy-metal thunder on the tube. VH1 Classic has scheduled 11 days of metal-themed programming in early November that will culminate with its self-proclaimed National Metal Day on Nov. 11.
