Wasn’t it supposed to be the drummer that always suffered the misfortune in Spinal Tap? That wasn’t the case on Tuesday as ‘This is Spinal Tap’ actor Michael McKean, who played the role of frontman David St. Hubbins in the cult mockumentary film about a heavy metal band, was struck by a car in Manhattan.

In a famous scene from Rob Reiner’s brilliant heavy metal mockumentary  ’This Is Spinal Tap,’ Spinal Tap’s guitarist Nigel Tufnel shows off a custom-made amplifier that goes up all the way up to “11.” To celebrate the beloved cinematic moment, a Facebook group wants to capitalize on this once-in-a-century opportunity to make 11/11/11 “Nigel Tufnel Day.”
