The National Down Syndrome Society and The Upside Down Club, Abilene's Down Syndrome support group, will be holding their annual 'Buddy Walk' on Saturday, October 11th. This event will provide a great opportunity for the Down Syndrome support groups in the Abilene area to get together and for the community to show support for those living with Down syndrome.

Tim Harris is a restaurant owner, who just happens to have Down Syndrome. Often times there is a stigma associated with Down's but Tim is certainly putting those to rest. He not only is the owner of his own restaurant but also a Special Olympian with 'more medals than Michael Phelps'.

While Down syndrome student Brett Bowden rarely got on the field, he was popular member of Hobbton High School’s football team due to his enthusiasm and positive attitude. Everybody expected Bowden to be on the team again for the 2011 season, but, in a controversial decision, the state of North Carolina has ruled him ineligible.
