Eight years ago, heavy metal lost one of its most influential figures in hulking Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele. His sarcastic, yet hauntingly beautiful music helped give rise to gothic metal and the funereal atmospheres of Type O still resonate today. Paying tribute to the "Green Man," ethereal rockers Starset have partnered with Loudwire premiere their cover of the October Rust classic "Love You to Death."

Much like how Type O Negative transformed songs like "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath), "Cinnamon Girl" (Neil Young), "Summer Breeze" (Seals & Crofts)" and others to fit well under their own stylistic umbrella, Starset have done the same with "Love You to Death."

Foregoing the heavier aspects of the original, Starset maintain a somber mood, playing to their strengths as piano melodies hang in mid-air with their electric violin driving the more cinematic facets. It's light, airy and a perfect cover selection for the rising Ohio-based act.

"Love You to Death" comes off the forthcoming Vessels 2.0 album, a deluxe edition of last year's Vessels, Starset's second record and first on Fearless Records. This edition, out Sept. 28, comes with several reimagined, acoustic and remixed version of songs as well, making for a total of nine new tracks in addition to the Vessels originals.
