Motley Crue's upcoming movie The Dirt is "honest" and "brutal on the eyes," according to bassist Nikki Sixx. Sixx was recently featured as a guest on an episode of KLOS's Jonesy's Jukebox for an interview and the world premiere of the movie soundtrack's first single "The Dirt."

The Dirt is a film adaptation of the band's biography with the same name that came out in 2001. The movie will be out March 22 exclusively on Netflix for the sole purpose of portraying their story as accurately as possible. The movie was originally going to be released through Paramount Pictures, who had the recent and very successful Bohemian Rhapsody about Queen and are also housing the Elton John biopic Rocketman that will be released in May.

"They [Paramount] were into the concept, but our story is a little rougher around the edges. They were hoping that we might just kind of take some of the barnacles off it and we just didn't feel it would be fair to the book or to the story," Sixx says. "Then we ended up at Netflix, and Netflix said 'make the movie that is the book.' They're just courageous, they don't care. They said 'go do it.' I can't tell you what the opening scene is but when you see it you'll go, 'How did this movie get made?'"

Sixx goes on to justify that certain scenes, though they are "filthy," are part of their story and it would be a disservice to sugarcoat them. "It's honest. There's a lot of tragedy that's happened to Motley Crue, self-inflicted and also from outside sources. We left it all in there because we believe that our movie is like a family movie, because we're family. We spend more time together than with anybody else...it's pretty brutal on the eyes," he adds. Hopefully this movie will satisfy rock fans who were disappointed by some of the historical discrepancies portrayed in Bohemian Rhapsody. From overdoses to fatal car accidents, which are both shown in The Dirt's trailer, Motley Crue's dangerous past is sure to make for an emotional and entertaining addition to the growing collection of rock and roll movies.
