Texas Mother Found Dead in Woods, Boyfriend Gets 50 Years
A Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of his girlfriend, whose body was found in a wooded area last year, according to officials.
Jasmine Muldoon, 25, was reported missing on May 5, 2023. The following day, her body was discovered north of Livingston, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement at the time. Prosecutors later determined she had died from a stab wound, citing a “tumultuous relationship” with her boyfriend, DeAndre Shermail Wright, as a contributing factor.
INVOLVED IN A VERY VIOLENT RELATIONSHIP
Muldoon’s family told news outlets that she had been experiencing domestic violence. “When she was allowed to come over here, she’d be covered in bruises. It was a very abusive, violent relationship that we all tried to get her away from,” her mother, Dewana Bowman, told KHOU shortly after her daughter’s death.
Months after the case opened, Wright accepted a plea deal. On Jan. 13, 2025, he pleaded guilty to murder in exchange for a lengthy 50-year prison sentence, according to a Feb. 4 news release from the Polk County District Attorney’s Office.
MOTHER KILLED LEAVING 5 CHILDREN BEHIND
Muldoon, a mother of five, was remembered as a loving and kind presence in the lives of those who knew her. A GoFundMe page described her as “a beloved mother, sister, and friend” who “brought warmth and kindness to her community.”
Livingston is located about 75 miles northeast of Houston.
