If you're looking to move to one of the best cities in the United States, look no further than the Houston area. To be perfectly honest with you, I never would have guessed The Woodlands was named the 2nd best U.S. city to live in, according to Niche.

Nothing against The Woodlands; it’s just that I’ve never been there, so I don’t have an opinion. But maybe it’s time I paid a visit to the city located just under 30 miles north of the Bayou City. Not that I’m looking to relocate; it’s just that I want to see what makes it such a great place to put down roots.

So, what is it about The Woodlands that makes it so great?

Researchers gave The Woodlands an A+ rating in public schools, being good for families, and jobs. It also received an A- in outdoor activities, diversity, and health and fitness. The lowest rating The Woodlands received was a B for commuting and cost of living.

The Niche report notes, “The Woodlands offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes. In The Woodlands there are a lot of restaurants and parks. Many families live in The Woodlands and residents tend to lean conservative. “

While landing at Number 2 on the list is great, you’re probably wondering which U.S. city was ranked the best to live in, and that would be Naperville, Illinois. I’m sure it’s a nice town, but it gets a little too cold in Illinois for this guy, so I’ll take The Woodlands.
