Texas needs to say, "Hold my beer...", except change it to sweat tea.

Big In Texas

I have researched and written about many oversize things in Texas. I even have a featured page for the things I call, "Big In Texas", even if the articles aren't completely written from that perspective. It's been fun learning about where Texans excel, our roadside attractions, and records in the State of Texas. Today though, I'm a little disappointed.

Not A Texas Record

My thought was, "Surely Texas owns the record for the largest glass of sweet tea". My premise ran aground like the Minnow on Gilligan's Island. It turns out that Texas does not own the record for the largest sweet tea, it may not have even tried. We need to change this, and to do so, we're going to need a big glass.

The Record Holder

The record for the largest glass of sweet tea belongs to Summerville, South Carolina. The tea was made in a giant replica Mason jar (called Mason, because what else). It was filled with 2,424 gallons of tea leaves, sugar, and water. They also had to keep chilling it with additional ice to get it to 45 degrees claim it as "Ice Tea".

It's Time, Texas!

Texas needs to step up. Not only did I not see any attempts to break this record, I couldn't find any place claiming to sell the largest sweet tea in any container beyond a gallon.  This seems like the perfect promotion for a Texas town or one of our Texas-based tea companies. Let's get this record!
