The Fantasy

There is a certain duality in Texas; there is what we think we are and what we actually are. Texan's like to think of themselves as moral, family-oriented, upstanding citizens, with most claiming a full-on "Christian Lifestyle". It's a great story, but it really falls apart when you look at the facts.

The Reality

A study by a page called, iSharingsoft put together a comprehensive study, and Texas failed miserably. Not only did Texas come out on top as the "Most Dangerous State To Raise A Kid", it was well above the score for #2 Florida. To be fair, #3 California's numbers were higher than both, but not when the size of the population was factored in.

The Facts

All of these things come down to metrics, and you can't argue with those. The study took the population and score each state in relation to abductions, missing children, crime rate, people injured or killed, total shootings and how many people were injured and or killed in mass shooting events. When all these metrics were added up Texas scored 86.46, while Florida came in at 64.20.

Consider This

All of this points to one concrete fact; Texas talks a good game when it comes to kids & families but does not deliver, at least in the safety department. We have to do better when it comes to little Texans, and it starts by recognizing that we have a serious problem.
