Texans Admit To The Kids Foods They Still Love
There’s no shortage of products made to appeal to kids—or even to babies—that somehow hold an irresistible charm for certain grown-ups.
When we asked, “What’s a kid food you secretly love?” the answers were as surprising as they were nostalgic. Sure, we expected the classics: sugary breakfast cereals, maybe the occasional Happy Meal for old times’ sake. But what we didn’t expect were some answers that could only be described—without spoiling the surprise—as “mashed” or “strained.”

It’s clear that for some people, palates simply never grow up. I once had a neighbor who flat-out refused to eat salsa unless it was fully blended and puréed, no vegetable chunks allowed. For him, texture was the enemy—smooth was safe.
I found myself wishing we could ask follow-up questions. Do those who love the blander, softer “kid foods” also enjoy bold and spicy flavors on occasion? Or do they happily live in the mild lane, sticking with comfort foods that feel like home?
The Kid Foods Adults Can’t Stop Loving
Some of the childhood favorites mentioned can be “leveled up” with gourmet twists or fresh ingredients, but in most cases, that wasn’t the point. People wanted the exact same flavors they remembered—a true “taste of being a kid.” And honestly, there’s no shame in that. Life’s too short for food guilt. Eat what you love, even if it came from the kids’ menu.
So, here it is: a fun peek at the kid-friendly snacks, meals, and treats that adults in Texas still crave, even in a world with more “grown-up” options than ever before.
