The coronavirus pandemic really did a number on a lot of our fun family Christmas events over the past few years. In my opinion, the one event that I think was affected and changed forever back then was Christmas Lane at the State Supported Living Center.

If you'll recall back in 2020 Christmas Lane took a Christmas vacation due to the pandemic, I recall when it came back it was more of a "stay in your cars" type event with no personal interaction with the Volunteers, Santa photos, the train displays, or being able to call Santa on their special phone line.

Now for the great news, my personal favorite West Texas event Christmas Lane put on by the Volunteer Service Council is back at the Abilene State Supported Living Center at 2501 Maple Street. The best part is, this year it goes from December 2nd through the 26th. The only difference is that on December 24th, 25th, and 26th it will be a drive-thru only.

As you'll notice on the Christmas Lane flyer above Christmas Lane is back to offering indoor and outdoor displays and will be open December 2nd-15th Fri, Sat, and Sun only. 16th-23rd and 6-10 PM every night. Then on December 24th-26th from 6-10 PM as a drive-thru only.

Keep in mind and very important to remember that this event is free to the public, any entry donations will go directly to benefitting all the residents of the Abilene State Supported Living Center. The Abilene Volunteer Services Council works extremely hard to put on this spectacular event for families to enjoy.

According to the Abilene VSC, Christmas Lane was established by the Abilene Volunteer Services Council, which raises funds to help the Abilene State Supported Living Center, which has hosted the annual Christmas Lane for the past 33 years. This is one of the Living Center's biggest yearly fundraisers. Visitors can enjoy over a hundred displays with lights, inflatables, Santa Claus, and more. The displays are often a nod to local businesses and Christmas icons, like Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus, and Nativity scenes. Source: Abilene VSC Shae Butts

Again, for the most part, the event is back in full swing and involves concessions, indoor train displays, and Santa photos are back at the Living Center, and please remember to donate what you can this holiday season and remember the reason for the season at Christmas Lane in Abilene.
