My Texas Winter Prediction Came True & Now Here Comes the Freeze
I Called It! My Winter Prediction for Texas Came True. Now, Here Comes the Deep Freeze
Back in October of 2024, I made a bold prediction, Texas wouldn’t see truly nasty, hard freezing weather until mid-to-late February. Meanwhile, the Old Farmer’s Almanac called for hard freezing temperature conditions hitting hard in early December. Well, here we are on February 17, 2025, and let’s just say, I might have a future in meteorology (or maybe just a lucky guess).
Governor Abbott Issues a Winter Weather Warning
Governor Greg Abbott has just issued an alert, warning Texans that we’re in for what could be the coldest weather event of the year. We’re talking single-digit temperatures, possible ice, and a state-wide freeze. The Governor is calling on multiple agencies, including the Texas Division of Emergency Management, ERCOT, and TxDOT, to keep Texans safe, ensure the power grid remains stable, and assist with any potential road hazards.
From Fire to Floods to Freezing Temps
As only Texas weather can, we’ve seen wildfire threats in West Texas, flash flooding in East Texas, and now, the deep freeze is rolling in. Temperatures are expected to plummet to near-zero degrees, and Governor Abbott is urging everyone to take precautions.

Check on elderly family members and neighbors
Ensure pets have warm shelter
Stock up on essentials in case roads become hazardous
Keep an eye on ERCOT updates to ensure the power grid holds steady
A Fun Bet, But a Serious Reminder
Sure, I had fun making my prediction, but winter weather is no joke. We all remember the Texas freeze of 2021, and while officials assure us the power grid is more resilient, it never hurts to be prepared.
Stay safe, stay warm, and let’s hope this is winter’s last big hurrah before spring comes knocking.
