Are You in Need of School Supplies? Free Backpacks in Abilene Friday
Backpacks and Blessings: Accurate Air Gives Back to Abilene Students
Local Business Owner Steps Up for Families in Need
Abilene families who missed out on back-to-school backpack giveaway last week have a second chance, thanks to one of our own. Tony Phelps, the owner of Hawkins and Accurate Air Solutions and a longtime friend of the radio station, is stepping up in a big way. He and his wife Tara are hosting a special event called “Backpacks and Blessings” this Friday evening, and it's all about helping kids get the tools they need to succeed this school year.

Free Backpacks Loaded With Supplies, No Strings Attached
Starting at 6 PM this Friday, families can simply drive up and receive up to two backpacks per vehicle, each one packed with basic school supplies following the AISD list. Whether it's for elementary, middle, or high school students, Tony and Tara have thought of everything.
Each backpack includes:
- Pencils and pens
- Highlighters or crayons
- Glue (bottle or stick)
- Plastic folders
- Spiral notebook
- Three-ring binder
- Wide-ruled notebook paper
- Non-metal water bottle
- And of course, a brand-new backpack
How It Works
Just drive up to the event, let the volunteers know whether the supplies are for a boy or girl and what grade level they’re in. No sign-up required. First come, first served while supplies last.
A Community with Heart
Tony has been involved in events like Cruise Night for years, always showing love to Abilene and all of west Texas. As he puts it:
"Join us this Friday at 6 PM as we give back to the community," Tony said. "We’ll be set up in the parking lot at Hawkins Air Conditioning, powered by Accurate Air, located at 117 Ruidosa Avenue. We’re handing out free backpacks filled with supplies for kids of all ages, just our way of making sure no student gets left behind."
So swing by, say hello, and join us as we'll all be handing out backpacks and blessings and prepare for the first day of school on Monday. So, let’s get our kids started right because this is what Abilene is all about.
