All hail Halestorm! Though their Vicious album came out last year, the band recently offered up a brand new song that initially surfaced as a b-side on their Record Store Day release of the track "Buzz." As the release came as a limited edition vinyl, the band is now giving more listeners a chance to hear the song that they've titled "Chemicals."

"I am not insane / Blame the chemicals inside my brain," sings Lzzy Hale to start the song, later finding commonality in the experiences many of us share and demystifying stigma explaining, "We're all made of chemicals." The song starts off as a chugging, sludgy rocker, but eventually builds to a more triumphant finish. Take a listen in the player below and if you like what you hear, the track is now available via the platform of your choosing here.

Hale has been an advocate of mental health awareness, starting a social media campaign shortly after the death of Huntress' Jill Janus asking fans to take a photo of themselves and post with the hashtag #RaiseYourHorns if they had dealt with mental illness. The goal was to show those dealing with issues that they are not alone.

Speaking to Kerrang!, Hale stated, "I wanted to do something for the community and the people I talk to every day online. When Jill from Huntress passed it was a shock to everybody, because we all knew her and always saw her floating around at awards shows and festivals. When you think about how lonely it must’ve been to have been hiding all those things she was feeling, it breaks your heart."

She added, "What I’ve learnt from talking to people online is that there are so many people who feel that way. No one is alone in struggling with their mental health, and, in fact, I think those of us that struggle with it are the majority. I decided to just try something and give everybody a task. I didn’t put that much thought into #RaiseYourHorns – I know it means other things, believe me. I thought it’d be easy for people to take a picture, tag their friends and show everybody that people aren’t alone in feeling this way. The community have just run with it, which has been amazing."

Halestorm are currently making their way through Canada touring in support of their Vicious album, and have dates in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada during the month of May. Additional European and U.S. shows are booked later this year. Get all their touring and ticketing info at this location.
