Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has quite a few irons in the film fire. The singer, who completed a rehab stint after an onstage meltdown at the iHeart Radio festival a year ago, is not only appearing in two upcoming Green Day documentaries. He also landed a role in 'Like Sunday, Like Rain,' an indie film drama that will star 'Gossip Girl' actress Leighton Meester.

According to Deadline, the film centers on Meester as a struggling musician who ends up serving as the guardian of a prodigy who is just 12-years-old. Armstrong will portray her boyfriend. Actress Debra Messing also stars. The film is being directed by actor Frank Whaley. Production on the film is currently under way in New York.

Armstrong also has a cameo in the much anticipated, forthcoming sequel 'Anchorman The Legend Continues.' Clearly, the frontman's film agent is on the ball.

Armstrong does have a decent film and TV resume to his credit, including the Judd Apatow-directed, music biz-themed comedy 'This Is 40,' the latter of which was an incredibly memorable turn. He did play himself, but he made it fun!

As far as the documentaries are concerned, '¡Cuatro!' is the upcoming Green Day doc that looks at the writing and recording of the '¡Uno!,' '¡Dos!' and ' ¡Tré!' trilogy of albums from 2012. 'Broadway Idiot' chronicles the adaptation of the band's 'American Idiot' into a Broadway musical. Both are out in October.
