There are days you need an impactful song and Dress the Dead are here to do just that as they premiere their new video for "You Only Get Off When I Cry." As you might expect from the title, the track deals with an abusive relationship and getting through the hard times.

Singer Kayla Dixon states, “This song hits home particularly hard for me. When writing the lyrics for 'YOGOWIC,' it seemed more as if another part of me had completely taken over the process. That part of me said, 'I’m in control now' and I had no other choice but to flow with what it was trying to tell me."

The group worked closely on the track with Machine Head's Robb Flynn serving as a producer. Dixon adds, "When we entered the studio with Robb Flynn to record this one, the song was completely different and the lyrics were vague at best. Robb really inspired me to bring specificity to my suffering. So I sat down and let the darkness consume me. This song is one last purge of all the negativity I’ve encountered in my life from childhood and through my adult life. We chose to release this song with the highest hopes that it reaches someone who needs to hear its message. Flynn adds, "Dress The Dead’s 'You Only Get Off When I Cry' blew me away the first time I heard it. The groove was so hard. Kayla dug down deep to come up with lyrics about a disturbing subject matter, and delivered it with a vocal performance that was quite frankly jaw dropping!!”

In addition to Dixon, the group features some other veteran names from the rock world. Manmade God's Craig Locicero and James Walker, Vio-Lence's Mark Hernandez and Insolence guitar prodigy Mikey Rowan round out the band. The group is starting to turn some heads, with Hellyeah's Tom Maxwell lending his support, “I love Dress The Dead! So many hooks and dynamics to their music that takes you on a sonic and cerebral journey that lingers well after the songs are finished. The world needs a band like this!”

If you like what you hear, Dress the Dead's "You Only Get Off When I Cry" can be found at Amazon, Apple Music, GooglePlay, Spotify and YouTube. The group is just starting to get touring in order, with an appearance at the Ivy Room in Albany, Calif. on Oct. 26 currently on the schedule. Look for the band heading off to Europe in 2020 for a summer trek.
