DJ Lethal Returns to the Stage With Limp Bizkit in New Zealand

Does time heal all wounds? A familiar face was back playing with Limp Bizkit Saturday (March 17) in Auckland, New Zealand as DJ Lethal returned behind the deck for the group. Lethal had been dismissed in 2012 after a public war of words with the band and while he later apologized, he had not played with the group since until Saturday night.

Limp Bizkit was performing at the Storm the Gates festival in Auckland, making their first stage appearance since August of 2017. Lethal posted an Instagram shot with the set list and his view from his place onstage, adding, "So this happened tonight," with a variety of hashtags and emojis. One of the hashtags was #LBF.

Back in April 2012, Lethal was informed that the band was considering letting him go and that his partying ways had played a role in the decision. The band had hoped to settle things internally, but the DJ told TMZ, “We've worked together the last four years to bring Limp Bizkit back to where it is today ... and to just be thrown out on the street after the band gets a new deal and a new chance at life isn't cool."

Wes Borland offered a response, explaining that the band was doing its best to help Lethal and that his making things public just made the situation worse. The guitarist also revealed that it was a group decision and not the sole choice of Fred Durst. But Lethal then went on a social media rant calling out his bandmates for their disrespect. More ranting followed from Lethal that summer, before the musician offered a public apology in the fall, coming clean about his personal issues that caused conflicts in the band. While it initially looked as though Lethal was being welcomed back, when Limp Bizkit returned to the stage in 2013 the DJ was not part of the lineup.

After the Saturday show, Lethal tweeted, "It's pretty official. Nice to be back," about his return. The band's next tour date comes March 24 at the Download Festival in Melbourne, Australia.
