Circa Survive Release Video for ‘Rites of Investiture’ Featuring Younger Version of Anthony Green

Circa Survive have come up with a pretty unique idea for their latest video, "Rites of Investiture," the second single from the Philadelphia band's upcoming album The Amulet. The group made made the star of the clip their singer, Anthony Green, which in itself isn't that odd ... except that it's a version of him from 23 years ago!

The black-and-white footage of the video comes from a 1994 short film shot by Green's cousin, Jonathan Michaels, who was building his film school portfolio at the time. He asked the then 12-year-old Green to act in one of the projects, rewarding him with a copy of The Smiths' landmark album, The Queen Is Dead, with which Green promptly fell in love. The re-purposed imagery makes for a bizarre companion for the aggressive new track, complimenting the lyrics surrounding birth and the harsh world that children are immediately thrown into.

"Rites of Investiture" will appear on The Amulet, which will be released Sept. 22 via Hopeless Records. The track is highlighted by a distorted bass and Green's soaring vocals, which will no doubt fill the upcoming album, their sixth. The release of the song follows the single "Lustration," which came out late last month.

Circa Survive recently announced a late 2017 co-headlining tour with Thrice which kicks off Nov. 2 in San Jose, Calif. at the San Jose City National Civic. The full run of dates can be found here. The trek with Thrice follows another co-headlining tour this summer, one that also featured AFI and just wrapped up last week (Aug. 5).
