In October of 2020, I had the honor of being able to help a relatively new non-profit organization "Beyond Trafficking", an organization that rescues and assists survivors of human trafficking and sex trafficking in Texas.

LOOK: The Walk For Freedom To Benefit Beyond Trafficking

In October of 2020, the radio station participated, promoted, and/or broadcast live for the "Walk For Freedom" that took place in downtown Abilene(as you'll see in the photo gallery above). Hundreds of Abilenians came to walk in the walk and hundreds of others came to watch.

Mayor Anthony Williams was the guest speaker and insisted that we as a community must put an end to human trafficking in Abilene and in Texas. The most shocking statistic is that human trafficking has gone up as you'll see in the video above.

For the last four years, Beyond Trafficking has conducted its business in restaurants, coffee shops, libraries, people's homes, and other public meeting venues.

Beyond trafficking can now conduct its business in its own office on the second floor of the First Financial building at 3300 South 14th Street. The founder and Executive Director for Beyond Trafficking Stephanie Andrade-Rocha told me that “having their own office will make a world of difference in helping rescue and assist those that are struggling with sex and human trafficking".

Stephanie went on to say that “human trafficking takes place every day in Abilene and around the Lone Star State and survivors have to have a safe place to go to, and Abilene can now provide that.
