Punk legends X are celebrating four decades as a band. After previously announcing a U.S. tour beginning in May, they have revealed even more dates. The second leg of the trek kicks off July 2 in Oakland, Calif., but most of the shows are in September. All the dates are below, with more expected to be announced.

Vocalist Exene Cervenka says, “For a long time interviewers and X people we've met have asked us did you think when X started you'd still be playing together now? And our answer is surprisingly -- No! Of course not! In 1976 I was 20; now I'm 60. How's that for weird?! DJ Bonebrake, Billy Zoom, John Doe and Exene Cervenka are STILL together! Recently we were in the van coming home from a show, and started talking about this very exciting 40th Anniversary year when Billy said: ‘That's nice. What are we doing for our 50th anniversary?’ Aren't you glad X is still around? I am!”

In an interview last year, Cervenka said that she doesn't take any shows for granted, especially after Zoom battled cancer. “I’m always aware that this could be the last show," Cervenka reveals. "I used to tell myself that when I was younger. It was one of my ways to make sure I played a really great show. If this is my last show, how do I want people to remember it?”

So after 40 years, what are her goals? “I like the idea that everything in life, for everybody, that your best work is still ahead of you,” Cervenka says. “That your best relationship is still ahead of you. That your best time, your best, most creative moment, your best poem — whatever it is — that it’s still ahead of you.”
