Mark Tremonti has embarked on a tour in support of his new solo disc ‘All I Was,’ which was released on July 10. However, bassist Brian Marshall, who plays with Tremonti in Creed and Alter Bridge, has been forced to drop off the trek.

A tweet from Tremonti explained it, saying, “Due to personal reasons Brian Marshall won’t be with us on this tour.” The latter part of his tweet filled in the missing pieces though, explaining, “On a lighter note the amazing Wolfgang Van Halen will be joining us.”

The Van Halen bassist, now experiencing some downtime while his dad Eddie Van Halen recovers from his recent surgery, seemed thrilled with the opportunity to get back out on the road. Van Halen shared his excitement on Twitter to comment on the last minute gig, saying, “Holy sh–! An abrupt change of plans has left me playing bass with  Tremonti tomorrow! I’ve got some tunes to learn!”

Wolfgang seems to be a fast learner because news coming in about his first show with Tremonti last night at the Rock Junction in Coventry, R.I., seems to be all positive. Both Wolfgang and Tremonti tweeted about the show and all that’s to come:

The current Tremonti tour continues throughout the U.S. wrapping up on Oct. 7 in the States before Tremonti and Co. head overseas for the rest of the month.

While the duration of Van Halen’s participation has not been confirmed, all signs point towards him staying on for at least the U.S. portion of the trek. Check out the full itinerary here.
