Will Today’s Google Doodle Upset Creationists?

I find it odd that evolution is a controversial topic. Even when I was among the faithful, I kind of mentally found ways to reconcile faith and evolution. Those days are long gone and now evolution is apparently a lesson from the devil's notebook.

Today's Google Doodle is actually a salute to Lucy, the name given to fossils found 41 years ago today.

The partial skeleton is said to be in the vicinity of 3.2 million years old.

The interesting thing about Lucy is the bones show that she walked upright like a human. For many, Lucy is one of the missing links in the history of human evolution. Lucy got her name from The Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds."

Today's Google Doodle mimics the famous evolutionary charts that show a hunched over ape gradually become a standing human, with "Lucy" inserted in the chart.
