Ugly Kid Joe vocalist Whitfield Crane is currently making the touring rounds with Lee Richards for their collaborative Richards/Crane album, but there's one very special show coming for the pair in Italy. On July 29, Crane and Richards will join with the 32-piece Machiavelli Orchestra in Verona, Italy for a show that will see Crane singing Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne classics as well as material from Ugly Kid Joe and Richards/Crane.

The concert will take place at the Teatro Ristori in Verona, a theater that is known for its tradition of combining Italian opera with modern technology. In addition to Crane and Richards and the orchestra, guitarist Tim McMillan and drummer Guiditta Cestari will round out the performers for the show. Internationally known composer Andrea Battistoni will serve as conductor for the show and will help come up with the arrangements for the orchestra.

The decision to cover some Sabbath songs likely comes from Crane's love for the metal icons. In a 2015 interview with Songfacts, the vocalist revealed that in 1997 he was asked to sit in with the group during rehearsals as the band wanted to soundcheck and didn't want to tax Ozzy Osbourne's voice before the shows.

Crane came to fame with Ugly Kid Joe on their 1992 America's Least Wanted album. The band released two more discs before disbanding in 1997. After Ugly Kid Joe, Crane briefly fronted Life of Agony and also spent time in Medication and Another Animal before Ugly Kid Joe's 2010 reunion. The group released their Uglier Than They Used ta Be album in 2015. Meanwhile, Crane kept close ties with guitarist Lee Richards from Another Animal and they offered up their Richards/Crane album as well.
