White Wizzard Shift Gears Into ‘Infernal Overdrive’ as Traditional Metal’s Flag Carriers
Traditional metal revivalists White Wizzard have once again reunited with their most acclaimed singer, Wyatt "Screaming Demon" Anderson and they're set to torch the metal world with Infernal Overdrive, their fourth full length and first since 2013's The Devil's Cut. With the record set for a Jan. 12 release, they've debuted the ripping title track which can be heard above.
It's good to have Anderson back in the group as he's one of the strongest true heavy metal singers to arise in the 21st century. He shares some of the same vocal characteristics of Judas Priest's Rob Halford (searing falsetto, highs sung with grit and a menacing mid-range) and puts it all on display on "Infernal Overdrive." Instrumentally, the song is steeped in '80s glory with twin leads and galloping bass, bobbing along with a bouncy, lead-inflected groove before taking a darker turn over the chorus.
“We’re very excited to release yet another song from our new album via this lyric video created by [guitarist James J.] LaRue. The lyrics are a bit of a sarcastic comment on modern times as we watch technology and idiocy fuse together for one entertaining ride as humanity circles the drain into the abyss!” explains founding member Jon Leon. “We bring it a bit heavier here and Wyatt sings his ass off on this one.”
Pre-orders for Infernal Overdrive are available now at the M-Theory webstore and if you're looking to catch the band live, check out their brief tour schedule below.
