I have tripped over the same Superbowl story three times today. The headline is something like "If you're planning a Super Bowl party. Make sure your policy covers it!".  Seriously, is that what its coming down to, suing our friends who invite us over for nachos?

The article suggests that you check with your homeowners insurance to make sure you have enough coverage if someone has an accident at your Superbowl party.  Well first off, why not check and see if I have enough coverage if they come over to borrow a rake?  Seriously, at what point or span of time does the visit become something that requires additional insurance?  The article questions "what if someone slips and falls or a fight breaks out".  Well the real answer is, we laugh about it and move on.

I understand if I leave a pack of roofing nails in the middle of my carpet that that is an unexpected hazard, but do I really have to worry about my bros suing me if they slip on the kitchen floor?  Seriously, who even wants to have friends if they're going to sue you at the drop of a hat? Accidents happen, get a helmet and get over it.

I'm going to write this report off as either an attempt to sell insurance or advice for really stupid people who have assh@les for friends.
