Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers Covered by Drummer With No Hands

Cornel Hrisca-Munn

If you’ve ever talked yourself out of doing something you really wanted to do because some part of you believed you wouldn’t be able to do it, just go ahead and slap yourself right now — and then watch this amazing video, which proves that we can overcome pretty much any obstacle if we’re determined enough.

We’re talking about the inspiring example set by Oxford student Cornel Hrisca-Munn, who’s currently playing drums in the university’s jazz orchestra despite the fact that he was abandoned in an orphanage shortly after being born with no forearms and a deformed right leg. As he told the UK’s Telegraph, “I don’t let my physical disability stand in my way. I always find solutions to what I cannot do. I’m a fighter.”

The Telegraph’s profile goes into detail about Hrisca-Munn’s story, from his rather miraculous survival in a squalid Romanian orphanage to his relationship with his adoptive parents, who are understandably amazed. “We wallow in our pride for him but we can’t take any credit,” said his father, Ken Munn. “All we have done is provide him with a loving environment. But there was something special about him from the start.”

Hrisca-Munn is studying philosophy and theology at school, but after watching him perform the Red Hot Chili Peppers tune ’The Adventures of Raindance Maggie,’ we think he has a pretty bright future as a drummer. Or anything else he sets his mind to, really.
