As the ’Bridesmaid’s’ ladies joked, some films are shorter than others. ‘The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore’ only runs about 15 minutes, but the gold statuette it won for Best Animated Short at the 84th Academy Award is the same size as the ones presented to the longer films.

The short was created by William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg at Moonbot Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana. A place the duo made enthusiastic reference to in their charming acceptance speech.  It features a combination of stop motion, computer-generation and traditional hand-drawn animation.

The story follows the exploits of Mr. Morris Lessmore, who keeps a library of lively and mischievous books. Since the film is only 15 minutes, you can watch the entire Oscar-winning effort below.
