There aren’t a lot of red-haired players in the NBA. That’s one of the reasons Patrick Gonzalez, who has red hair, is a fan of Matt Bonner, a ginger-headed back-up center for his hometown San Antonio Spurs.

So to pay homage to the sharp-shooting bigman, Gonzalez had a rather accurate image of his favorite player shaved into the back of his head.

Since hair is apparently a touchy subject at Woodlake Hills Middle School, his mom Rose Gonzalez actually went to the school to clear the Bonner-cut with the administration before Patrick showed up for class.

But despite this meeting, Patrick was told that he would have to get rid of his unique hair style or face suspension. According to school official Aubrey Chancellor, Rose Gonzalez may have met with the front office about her son’s hair, but permission was never actually granted.

So now it looks like Patrick will have to get rid of his tribute, which has been deemed a “distraction.” He says that he is “mad,” but will comply with the decision.

If anything good were to come out of this misunderstanding, it would be that it might draw more attention to Bonner, who last year posted a couple pretty clever parodies of basketball instructional videos on YouTube. Check them out below.

Disco legend Donna Summer has died after a battle with cancer, TMZ is reporting. She was 63 years old.

Insiders say she wanted to keep the disease quiet, and a friend said that as recently as two weeks ago, Summer seemed okay and was even finishing up work on a new album.

The five-time Grammy winner shot to fame in the 1970s with songs like ‘Love to Love You Baby,’ ‘Hot Stuff’ and ‘Bad Girls,’ and continued her reign on radio airwaves into the ’80s with hits including ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ and ‘This Time I Know It’s for Real.’

Summer was also the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach No. 1 on the US Billboard chart.

Managers like Earl Weaver, Lou Piniella, Ozzie Guillen, and Bobby Cox made names for themselves as fierce opponents of some calls, making for some humorously and memorable moments as they totally lost their cool on the diamond. On other occasions, players have been known to stand up for themselves and challenge umpires for what they perceived as blown calls. The Blue Jays’ Brett Lawrie is just the latest to join the fray. Here’s a look back at some of our favorite player vs. umpire meltdowns:

After thinking he walked, Lawrie was summoned back to home plate by umpire Bill Miller during a game against the Rays on Tuesday night, and he went absolutely bananas. Lawrie threw down his helmet in disgust, which landed at an angle, causing it to immediately bounce back up into Miller. It earned Lawrie a four-game suspension. Miller’s abuse didn’t end there, though. A fan hurled a beer at him as he headed off the field.

GEORGE BRETT

The infamous “pine tar” incident further propelled Brett to stardom in 1983 when the Yankees challenged Brett’s bat he used to hit a home run against them. After the umpires reviewed the bat, they concluded that Brett had violated a league rule and applied too much of the substance to his bat. Brett, perhaps reasonably, charged out of the dugout after he was ruled out. The league eventually decided that Brett shouldn’t have been tossed, and the Royals finally got the win 25 days afterward.

DELMON YOUNG

A couple weeks ago, Young’s temper got the best of him when he went on a drunken anti-Semitic tirade in New York City which earned him some time off. Unfortunately, this wasn’t Young’s first example of bad behavior. Or should we say bat behavior. When Young was a minor leaguer in 2006, he got so inflamed after a called third strike that he tossed his bat toward home plate. It struck the umpire, too, who immediately threw young out of the game. It got him a 50-game suspension.

Rauch got so mad after a call at home during a 2011 game that he lost his shirt. Seriously. Rauch’s six-foot-10 frame left him a candidate for one of the most awkward standoffs with an umpire, and it took several of his teammates to drag him away toward the dugout. With the level of vitriol Rauch was exhibiting that afternoon, the ump and fans might have gotten off easy that Rauch walked away when he did.

RYAN HOWARD

During the 14th inning of a 2010 game, Howard was thrown out after protesting a close check swing call. It caused him to confront third base umpire Scott Barry all the way up the line. Imagine having the six-five, 250-pound slugger coming after you with full force. Phillies players and another umpire were able to restrain Howard long enough to keep him from manhandling Barry, and eventually Howard was led off the field.

ROBERTO ALOMAR

We may never know what it was that umpire John Hirschbeck said to Alomar during a 1996 game that prompted the second baseman to spit at Hirschbeck. It’s one of baseball’s sorrier moments, but also one that Alomar moved on from shortly afterward. Alomar was suspended five games. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011, showing that even for the league bygones were better left bygones.

Harper was ejected from the Junior College World Series in 2010 after a questionable third strike call. As Harper stepped out of the batters’ box and headed back toward his dugout, he drew a line in the sand that flicked dirt up at the ump. He was promptly tossed from the game, his last before declaring for the majors. It’s forgivable, though. Harper was just 17 at the time of the incident.

CARLOS BELTRAN

Sometimes the officiating can get so bad that a player winds up getting support from his manager. During a 2008 game. Beltran and teammate Carlos Delgado were so outraged by a strike call that manager Jerry Manuel joined in on the rage. Beltran wound up getting tossed, and the Mets needed just about everyone they have available in the dugout to come and control the situation.

Skrillex has certainly won over the Grammy committee, club DJs, the record-buying public and even a few moms with his dance music called dubstep, but what do the kids think of him? And when we say “the kids,” we don’t mean the trend-savvy adolescent youth of America — we mean actual adorable little children.

To find out, the people behind Vice enlisted a gaggle of cute little kids to take part in a listening party for an episode of their online video feature called Noisey. In the clip, the kids voice their opinion of the DJ’s hot hit single ‘Bangarang.’

Oh, did we mention they gathered the kids in a London dance club, dressed them up like little ravers and loaded them up with the good stuff (candy!)? The children are decked to the nines in club gear, from brightly colored wigs and necklaces to baggy pants and plastic thick-rimmed glasses. In between turns busting moves on the disco floor, the kids sit down on a couch, throw on headphones to listen to ‘Bangarang’ and let the comments fly.

The verdict? It’s hard to get a precise read on if they liked it from their comments — though they certainly seemed to have a blast cutting a rug on the multicolored light-up disco floor — so let’s just sample some of the comments.

“What is dubstep?” asks one girl in baggy overalls, perhaps voicing a question millions have thought to themselves but were afraid to ask.

“This music makes me want to slap my sister’s fat butt,” says one little girl, decked out in a Dayglo orange wig, a string of brightly colored beads around her neck.

“It makes me want to run around and dance,” adds a girl in a purple top.

“The song makes me feel crazy, like I’ve eaten loads of sweet,” a little redheaded boy wearing a rainbow tie-dye T-shirt chimes in a bit later.

“His hair looks like a girl and his face like a boy,” adds another redheaded boy, after seeing a picture of the DJ. “And that’s so funny.”

So funny, indeed.

Nike’s always been known for pumping out some truly memorable commercials, but we’ve become used to their stylized productions. That is, until this spot for Nike Free Run jogged onto our TV sets. In it, a guy and a girl vow to run to each other from opposite coasts to meet in Kansas City – the ‘Paris of the Plains’. The dude’s out of shape, but the girl is a champ. Nike was even coy enough to slip in a couple cameos - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in NY) and pro skateboarder Theotis Beasley (in CA).

In the comments, another heated debate over Rosie vs. Megan Fox sprung up. Will that every die down? ‘Transformers Dark of the Moon’ came out last year, let’s move on. The OTHER girl grabbing eyeballs was the lithe redhead who reminded us of Courteney Cox meets Julia Roberts meets Jami Gertz. So, who is she (and why the HELL does she want to jump the bones of that out of shape dude)?

It’s Stephanie Lynn. The actress, singer & songwriter known as ‘Green Mountain Girl’ from Vermont was the perfect fit for this role – she “believes in love and the good in everyone”. Her TV credits include appearances on NBC’s short-lived series ‘Perfect Couples’ and ABC’s ‘Castle’. She also played the lead in the movie, ‘The Graduates’. You might’ve seen her in a McDonald’s commercial in August 2011, especially if you were watching ‘Armageddon’ on FX.

The officer approaches the stopped vehicle, and even though you can’t hear what’s happening, based on your own experiences, you can probably assume he’s telling the driver why he’s pulled him over.  As is the standard practice, he appears to get the driver’s identification and is probably headed back to his vehicle to write up the ticket. Again, very typical in this type of situation, other than the fact that he seems to be a plain clothes officer of some kind.

This is when it gets weird. Suddenly, out of the offending vehicle rushes not a man, but a polar bear/human hybrid of some kind. Oh, but not just any polar bear person, a somewhat intoxicated polar bear person who seems to think it’s a good idea to run erratically toward a cop.

Fortunately, the officer has seen enough nature shows to know exactly what to do in this situation and the polar bear person is restrained. The officer has to be careful though, because polar bears are an endangered species.

IKEA

IKEA specializes in affordable, streamlined and semi-stylish furniture that’s space-efficient, strangely named yet easy for just about anybody to put together. Oh, and their cafeteria has amazing Swedish meatballs. But the company is taking a bold step toward cornering the home-entertainment market with their latest “invention” – a combination TV stand and smart LED HDTV/Blu-ray player that reaches European markets this fall.

Named the UPPLEVA (of course), this device packages your home-entertainment needs into a relatively compact structure with a TV screen, built-in Blu-ray player, a cabinet, and a wireless subwoofer. Endgadget says the screens on the UPPLEVA will range from 24 to 46 inches, with prices for the unit starting around $960 overseas. After trial runs in Sweden, Italy, France, Poland, Denmark, Spain, Norway and Portugal, the UPPLEVA likely will expand to more markets – hopefully the U.S. – in the Spring of 2013.

That seems like a reasonable price for a smart TV with a Blu-ray player AND a storage unit. But will you buy this if it doesn’t fit the design of your place? IKEA furniture only fits certain styles, and the UPPLEVA matches that description. It won’t work for everybody, but for those who have limited space and a need for a combination unit, this could be ideal.

It also marks a step in the right direction for technology, as a whole. We just didn’t think IKEA would be one of those pioneers in the industry! So what do you think? Would you pick up this unit if it was available at your local IKEA?

The world of men’s grooming sure has changed since the years of smelling like, according to Zach Galifianakis, “garlic and diesel fuel” as opposed to cologne. But ‘Arrested Developement’s’ Jason Bateman and Will Arnett quickly realized while filming the new documentary ‘Mansome’ that the men of today are incorporating much more drastic techniques into their daily regime than a simple cut and shave.

This new creation by that crazy ‘Supersize Me’ guy Morgan Spurlock tries to figure out exactly what’s considered “manly,” especially since a lot of guys shave their backs, sacks and cracks. We’re so not joking about that.

By the looks of the trailer, it seems like women are no longer responding to the infamous ‘Anchorman’ stench of Sex Panther and more prefer the ‘Jersey Shore’ way of life for their boyfriends — gym, tanning, laundry.

But the main question still remains. Are we sacrificing our manliness for the sake of personal hygiene? Maybe Paul Rudd and the Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa will give us some solid answers when the film premieres May 18th.

We’ve watched the guys at Epic Meal Time make massive desserts. We’ve watched them make massive St. Patrick’s Day treats. And we’ve watched them make massive, yet amusing, fools out of themselves. Today, we watch them make the most massive bacon burger ever created by man. And we love them for it.

Because we weren’t at our computers playing ‘Diablo 3’ we decided to watch what Epic Meal Time had in store for us in this episode. What they had was a colossal sandwich with 500 (yes, two zeros after that 5) strips of bacon and likely more than 109,000 calories. We are just a little bit disappointed in ourselves to admit that it actually looks really freakin’ good. Of course, watching Muscles Glasses devour it sort of takes away from its original appeal, but still, we would have liked just one bite.

The good news for the EMT guys? We’re guessing they will be hired to cater the upcoming Susanne Eman wedding.

While rock may be a male dominated world, when the women speak, they do so loudly. Two great examples of that are Amy Lee and her band Evanescence and Lzzy Hale with Halestorm. The two leading ladies have been crossing paths lately and have nothing but kind and supportive words for each other.

In a recent interview with 106.5 The End at last weekend’s Carolina Rebellion (May 12), Amy Lee raved about Hale and her masterful pipes. “I love her voice, she has a beautiful voice,” Lee said. “I had heard their [Halestorm] music. I went to check her out live to see if it was the real deal and she’s the real deal. She has a voice like … power! She’s powerful.”

With not a lot of female fronted bands on the rock circuit Lee talked about the experience of seeing Halestorm live. “I look forward to it,” she expressed. “I can get juiced up and inspired.”

Lee and Evanescence, currently out on tour in support of their latest self-titled disc also dished on the rules of the road. As seasoned vets, they definitely have some insight. “Always carry baby wipes, because some days you just can’t catch a shower,” reports Lee. “Hydrate, you have to drink a little or else you’re not going to be able to rock like you need to.”

When asked who they were most looking forward to seeing that day, Lee couldn’t name just one band, “We have friends here,” she admitted. “We love Korn. Chevelle – who we know, we’re going to tour with the later this year.” Evanescence will be overseas through the beginning of July. The tour with Chevelle has not yet been officially announced so fans certainly have that to look forward to.

The point of the ad isn’t necessarily that you shouldn’t trade in games at GameStop, but that you shouldn’t buy games at all. Instead, you should rent as many as you can handle for a flat monthly fee. And, judging from the commercial, you should also knock down store shelves at random.

GameStop, though, might argue that renting doesn’t always make sense. If you’re playing something that can last for a long time, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or with a strong multiplayer component, like Madden or Call of Duty, you’ll tie up your queue for months by renting those games rather than buying them.

Sebastian Bach was a busy man this weekend (May 13) at Lazerfest in Boone, Iowa. In addition to his own set, complete with very special hometown guest Corey Taylor of Slipknot, he was also pulled onstage by Five Finger Death Punch.

During his set, the always amped up Bach got the crowd going, screaming, “I remember you Iowa!” Right before he tore into the classic Skid Row anthem ‘Youth Gone Wild,’ he unleashed a little surprise of his own on the crowd. “Well it’s f—ing true what they say dreams can come true, and it can happen to you Iowa,” screamed Bach. “And you know how I f—ing know that, because one of my best rock ‘n’ roll buddies is from Iowa – give a big welcome right now to Corey Taylor.”

The Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman took to the stage and addressed the crowd, saying, “My people, what’s up!” followed by, “I don’t know why I’m here?” That’s when Bach incited the crowd, getting them to chant ‘Youth Gone Wild’ before ripping into the tune with Taylor onstage. Bach’s time on stage wasn’t done after his set though. He also made a special appearance during Five Finger Death Punch’s set. Bach shared the whole story with his Facebook followers, posting a photo and saying, “Hangin’ on the bus w/Ivan singer from 5 Finger Death Punch last night in Iowa. This band was INCREDIBLE live & great guys too! They even played a bit of ’18 & Life’ live & gave me a shoutout & brought me onstage! Thanks guys you are amazing!”

One thing is for sure, when Sebastian Bach is on the premises, there’s no telling who he’ll join on stage, whether it’s Five Finger Death Punch or one of past appearances with Guns N’ Roses and Asking Alexandria.

In related news, his special guest Corey Taylor recently announced that the new Stone Sour disc should be out in October.

It’s been three long years since Green Day released a studio album, and the band has so much pent-up creative energy that it’s preparing to unleash a full-on trilogy of new LPs over the next year. The first installment, ‘¡Uno!,’ arrives in September — and the band will celebrate its release by heading down to New Orleans and headlining Voodoo Fest 2012.

The band last played the Voodoo Fest in 2004, receiving rapturous reviews for its set (and for good reason, as you can see in the video embedded below). As Nola.com puts it, “Green Day’s return is the Voodoo equivalent of Bruce Springsteen‘s return to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.” The band has played in New Orleans since, but there’s something special about Voodoo; over the festival’s decade-plus lifespan, it’s lured everyone from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Deadmau5 to the Big Easy, earning a reputation for one of the most dizzyingly eclectic lineups of the festival season.

Perhaps more importantly for Green Day fans, this appearance is their only scheduled North American date of 2012, so if you absolutely have to see the band in person this year, you’d better start making plans for New Orleans. Tickets for Voodoo Fest 2012 are already on sale, with prices ranging from $125 for a regular three-day pass to $400 for the full VIP experience.

Voodoo Fest 2012 is scheduled for Oct. 26-28, which means the organizers have plenty of time to announce the other impressive headliners they’ve no doubt got up their sleeve. Bret Michaels has settled his lawsuit against CBS Broadcasting, which stemmed from an incident where a set piece dropped on the Poison frontman at the 2009 Tony Awards.

Footage of Bret Michaels nearly getting decapitated by a closing piece of the set was everywhere a couple of years ago. Despite the fact that the clip went viral faster than some of the ‘Rock of Love Bus’ contestants, Michaels was not amused by the poorly timed maneuver. In fact, he claims that the blow to the head contributed to a brain hemorrhage that nearly killed him a year later.

Michaels filed suit against CBS Broadcasting, claiming that the producers of the Tony’s never informed him there would be a set change after Poison — ironically — performed ‘Nothing but a Good Time.’ The lawsuit — claiming the incident left Michaels with a broken nose, busted lip and brain bleeding — was settled between the two parties during a New York City mediation on May 11. While the amount of the settlement wasn’t disclosed, Bret’s attorney wrote, “Mr. Michaels would like to thank his fans for their continued support.”

CBS and the Tony’s said in a joint statement that they had reached “an amicable resolution” in the lawsuit that was initially filed back in March 2011. Both involved parties are going to keep the final number attached to the suit under wraps, but we’re guessing it’s a pretty sizable amount. Michaels claims that the mishap at the Tony’s affected his ability to perform, which was a major source of income for the rocker.

Poison were performing with the cast of the broadway musical ‘Rock of Ages’ at the awards show — the musical gets the big screen treatment this summer and will feature Tom Cruise, Russel Brand, Alec Baldwin and others performing the Poison songs ‘Nothin’ but a Good Time’ and ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn.’

Mitchell Guist, who starred on the History Channel reality show ‘Swamp People,’ passed away on Monday while loading a boat on Louisiana’s Belle River.

According to reports, Guist suffered a seizure and fell down. It is unclear if trauma from the fall killed him, or if his death was a result of a medical condition.

“We are extremely saddened to report that our friend and beloved member of the ‘Swamp People’ family, Mitchell Guist, has passed away earlier today,” The History Channel said in a statement Monday. “Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved. We appreciate your respect for the Guist family’s privacy and hope you join us in sending our thoughts and prayers to his brother, Glenn, and the rest of the Guist family.”

Mitchell and Glenn Guist joined the cast of the hit reality show in its second season. They were known for their long white beards, good nature and their ability to live off the swamp land they’d called home for their entire lives. Mitchell Guist would have turned 48 on Friday. Sixx: A.M. have unleashed their latest single from their album ‘This is Gonna Hurt,’ and they have grand plans for ‘Are You With Me Now.’ The song is being used for charitable efforts, with proceeds going to the City of Hope organization.

Sixx: A.M. are joining other celebrities like Ryan Seacrest, Vince Gill and Sugarland in support of City of Hope, which provides research, treatment and education for cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life threatening diseases. The group began the campaign by providing a teaser clip of the music video for the track. As for the full clip, fans will be able to unlock the video with a special code provided after a donation is made to City of Hope.

The group states, “By donating to City of Hope, you can make a difference and help win the fight against cancer, diabetes, HIV and other diseases. Every donation counts and together we can work to make these life-threatening illnesses a thing of the past.”

‘Are You With Me Now’ is the third single from the ‘This is Gonna Hurt’ album, following the chart-topping ‘Lies of the Beautiful People’ and the Top 10 title track.
