An enormous tornado with a debris cloud two miles wide tore through the metropolitan area just south of Oklahoma City on Monday afternoon.

UPDATE 9:28 p.m. EST: At least 51 people were killed in the storm, including seven children from Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, according to KFOR in Oklahoma City. The news station reported that 75 student and staff were inside the school when the storm struck. Officials said Monday night that the search of the rubble remaining of the school had turned to a recovery mission.

UPDATE 8:33 p.m. EST: At least 37 people have been killed in the storm, according to the local medical examiner. The two-mile wide twister, has been given a preliminary classification of an EF-4 tornado (winds of 166 to 200 mph), according to weather officials. Crews are continuing to search an area of 30 square miles for victims of the powerful storm.

UPDATE 7:49 p.m. EST: ABC News reports that at least 10 people have been killed in the storm in Moore, Okla. today.

UPDATE 7:04 p.m. EST: The AP reports that several children were pulled alive from the wreckage at Plaza Towers Elementary School, in Moore.

UPDATE 6:05 p.m. EST: CNN affiliate KFOR is reporting that people are pulling children out from the rubble of an elementary school in Moore. There is no official word yet on the condition of the children.

The town of Moore suffered tremendous damage as the twister gradually moved east, but it never did reach the downtown area of Oklahoma’s capital city. The National Weather Service had issued a tornado emergency warning for the region, a rarity for such a highly populated area. Schools, houses, businesses and many, many more buildings have been utterly devastated.

The tornado may also have touched down in or near the town of Newcastle, which is where many people who had been evacuated due to Sunday’s storms were sheltered.

In total, more than 171,000 people may have been in the path of the tornado, according to CNN.

Amazingly, the thief only suffered minor injuries, proving karma may have turned its head when he made his getaway. And in further misplaced karma news, the woman he robbed was actually the one who pulled him to safety.

In many ways, Foo Fighters’ second album, ‘The Colour and the Shape,’ is really their first. Or at least their first as a real band. Dave Grohl made the group’s 1995 self-titled debut as a solo project — basically demos recorded by himself in a Seattle studio with a producer in less than a week. Grohl played all of the instruments (except for one guitar part) and dug up a handful of old songs he had written when he was in Nirvana. The new songs he wrote tried to come to terms with Kurt Cobain’s death. Foo Fighters weren’t supposed to be the next chapter in Grohl’s career, but they turned out that way.

After ‘Foo Fighters’ became a hit, Grohl hired a band, went on tour and settled into his new group. And they began recording Grohl’s latest batch of songs, most of them dealing with his recent divorce, with producer Gil Norton, who had worked with the Pixies. But Grohl quickly took control of the sessions, going as far as rerecording all the drum parts himself after hearing the original drummer’s inadequate performance.

Despite the tumultuous sessions, ‘The Colour and the Shape’ (which celebrates its 16th anniversary today) turned out to be heavier, more focused and an all-around better album than the Foo Fighters’ debut. Songs like ‘Monkey Wrench,’ ‘My Hero,’ ‘Everlong’ and ‘Walking After You’ tear apart Grohl’s crumbling marriage with an emotional gust that’s as cathartic as it is regretful. And the band, the sound of a real band, gives the record, and Grohl, a solid foundation on which to build.

‘The Colour and the Shape’ became the band’s first Top 10 album and its biggest seller, eventually selling more than two million copies. Three of its songs reached the modern-rock Top 10; ‘Everlong’ almost even cracked the Top 40 — a rarity in 1997, when rock was on its way out with mainstream music fans. Since its release, ‘The Colour and the Shape’ has become the pinnacle of the Foo Fighters’ career and a record that grows in stature with each passing year. It not only contains the group’s best songs. It’s also a modern-rock milestone.

A brand new trailer and some cool new screenshots from the upcoming prequel Batman: Arkham Origins has been released.

While The Joker doesn’t make an appearance in the trailer (sorry), and you don’t see any actual gameplay footage (double sorry), you do get to see an awesome cinematic fight between Bats and Deathstroke at a shipping yard. There are also some new screens to compliment The Dark Knight’s fight against people in really uncomfortable looking outfits.

If last week’s teaser trailer wasn’t enough for you, then this new full-length trailer is sure to get you excited. Bats takes on Deathstroke at a shipyard in the snow. Honestly, we could watch an entire cinematic like this for 90 minutes.

On a recent episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ Jimmy debuted his new reality series, which stars his nephew Wesley, who yearns for a bride and a fire truck because he’s still a toddler. Much like the original ‘Bachelor‘ series, ‘The Baby Bachelor’ will have his pick from an array of possible brides, who are searching for either their soulmate or just a sugar daddy (or possibly an actual daddy).

We don’t know about you, but we think everyone agrees with Wesley — we’d all like to get the big girl.

From the moment Disney announced it would begin “winding down” ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ as it began building a new era of the ‘Star Wars‘ franchise, fans have wondered where the animated arm of the franchise would reach next. Now, we’ve learned that the newest project will take the name ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ chronicling the time between trilogies after the formation of the Empire! Preview the newest ‘Star Wars’ series inside!

While the next round of movies remains something of a mystery, ‘Star Wars’ fans finally have a clue about the future of the franchise. Via the New York Times, we’ve learned that Disney will produce an animated series titled ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ for a likely fall 2014 debut on the Disney Channel, before moving to Disney XD

While details of the plot have been kept somewhat under wraps, we know that ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will take place “in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.” Taking over the creative side are that of screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg (‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Elysium‘), who writes the first episode; ‘Clone Wars’ supervising director Dave Filoni and ‘Young Justice’ producer Greg Weisman.

It still remains to be seen what, if anything will become of the additional material produced for ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ but what say you? Last night’s (May 18) KROQ Weenie Roast featured a surprise performance by Stone Temple Pilots, who used the event to reveal their new part-time singer: Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington. The foursome played a mini-set that included the brand-new track ‘Out of Time,’ our sister site Loudwire reports, and speaking with the L.A. radio station, STP guitarist Dean DeLeo dished on the nature of the partnership.

“Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time,” DeLeo said, explaining how Bennington came to replace troubled Stone Temple Pilots founder Scott Weiland, who split with the band earlier this year. “We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”

Most assumed that the Rolling Stones‘ ’50 and Counting’ tour moniker was a reference to their 50 years in music, but it might eventually double as a status for the amount of special guests during their current run. The latest to join in the Rolling Stones fun was Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who hopped onstage to play guitar and sing during the band’s Anaheim, Calif. stop Saturday night (May 18). Fan-shot footage can be seen above.

The Rolling Stones were six songs into their hits-filled performance when Grohl took the stage with the band to perform the track ‘Bitch’ off the band’s 1971 album ‘Sticky Fingers.’ The Foo Fighters leader brought his usual passion to the track, rocking the song as Mick Jagger sang. Grohl also got a little bit of face-to-face time as he and Jagger shared a mic at one point to sing the song’s lyrics.

Aside from Jagger, the night’s only other special guest was the band’s onetime guitarist Mick Taylor who performed on ‘Midnight Rambler’ as well as the show closer ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.’ Grohl and Taylor join a growing list of guest stars, with Tom Waits, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, John Mayer and more gracing the stage at various stops on the trek so far.

Grohl does have a past with the Rolling Stones, as he jammed with Mick Jagger on the season finale of last year’s ‘Saturday Night Live,’ playing ’19th Nervous Breakdown’ and ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It)’ during the NBC late night series.

Little by little, Megadeth are unveiling more pieces to their upcoming album, ‘Super Collider.’ But by no means is the latest gem from the band “little.” Megadeth come rocking out of the gates with the new song, ‘Kingmaker,’ which has surfaced online ahead of the band’s ‘Super Collider’ album release along with the disc’s full track listing.

The track opens with some ominously dark David Ellefson bass notes leading into what sounds like a hovering helicopter before Dave Mustaine and Chris Broderick’s full on guitar assault kicks in. Mustaine sings about the “need-it-now” mentality and wanting to be the ultimate “kingmaker” in the track.

‘Kingmaker’ is just the latest sneak peek fans are getting into the new record. The band recently revealed the title track and a snippet of the song ‘Don’t Turn Your Back‘ was recently tied to a promotion revealing the disc’s album art. The album also features a pair of tracks with Disturbed and Device frontman David Draiman lending a hand. He turns up on the songs ‘Dance in the Rain’ and ‘Forget to Remember.’

As Megadeth lead up to the June 4 release of ‘Super Collider,’ they’re also getting their promotional responsibilities in order. The group just shot a video for ‘Super Collider’ that will debut shortly and they’ve filled out the bands and itinerary for the 2013 Gigantour trek this summer. Check here for the dates.

Papa Roach are digging deeper into ‘The Connection’ album, with ‘Silence Is the Enemy’ now the fifth song to surface from the release. The band just released a new lyric video for the powerful track that can be seen above.

The clip itself is primarily shot against a dingy background with a bright light pulsating to the beat from behind as the lyrics pop up onto the screen. With the album called ‘The Connection,’ ‘Silence Is the Enemy’ is one of those tracks that speaks to the experience of being heard. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix offers the anthemic lyrics, “So scream your heart out / You are the chosen / You’ve got to show them / Silence is the enemy / Scream it out loud / We are the broken / We got to show them / Silence is the enemy.”

‘Silence Is the Enemy’ follows ‘Still Swingin’,’ ‘Before I Die,’ ‘Where Did the Angels Go?‘ and ‘Leader of the Broken Hearts‘ off of their latest album.

Personally, we prefer the slower, shambling zombies, because they don’t remind us about our asthma. Still, back flips are cool though, so we like this video, even though it ramps up our anxiety pretty bad.

You know how sometimes you’re walking through Times Square, and it reminds you a little too much of ‘Blade Runner,’ then you get an email on your hand-sized computer/phone, and you have a massive panic attack because THE FUTURE IS NOW?!!!!! This video does not help that feeling. At all.

According to Rusty Ward, host of the Web series Science Friction, the military is already making ‘Star Trek‘-esque phasers. Just keep them set to stun, fellas, so we don’t have to worry about it too much.

When we last visited Queens of the Stone Age, they were continuing their animated video series with a brutal bar brawler meeting his maker via an on-speeding vehicle in the ‘Keep Your Eyes Peeled‘ clip. Moving forward, the focus now shifts to the driver of the car for the ‘If I Had a Tail’ video (seen above) and the series closes out with the promo for the current single ‘My God Is the Sun’ (seen below).

In the brutal ‘If I Had a Tail’ clip, the camera reveals the driver behind the wheel of a Firebird Trans-Am stained with blood from the recent incident. The driver appears to be a bounty hunter, hidden behind a helmet that reads ‘Burn It All Down’ and etching a notch on the dashboard to signify another kill.

As the driver rolls through a rough part of town, a tail begins to follow them and it’s revealed to be a reaper-like character inching closer on a motorcycle. A dangerous drag race and pursuit ensues, and much like some of the other videos in the Queens of the Stone Age series, a deathly end appears imminent.

However, as the ‘My God Is the Sun’ video begins, we see something emerging from the ground of the fiery crash, inching closer to the sky. As this happens, there are signs of movement from each of the characters presumed dead from all of the videos. And when the rising deity reaches its zenith in the sky, we learn of its ultimate plan.

‘If I Had a Tail’ and ‘My God Is the Sun’ follow the band’s videos for ‘Keep Your Eyes Peeled,’ ‘Kalopsia‘ and ‘I Appear Missing.’ All of the songs are featured on the upcoming ‘… Like Clockwork‘ album. The disc is due June 4 and can be pre-ordered via iTunes.

19-year-old Angie Miller may not have won ‘American Idol’ last night, but she made it all the way third place, and won our hearts in the process. Of course, we don’t watch the show, we just happened to catch a glance while the girlfriend was watching. We were walking through the living room after pumping iron in the garage, you know?

It’s not exactly surprising that this Boston, MA native did so well; girl can sing, play piano, and she’s beautiful, to boot.

Miller has been watching ‘American Idol’ since she was 9 years old, and though she never had any formal musical training, she knew from an early age that her goal was to be on the show.

Now post-’Idol,’ Angie has plans to release a pop album, and eventually try her hand at acting. In the meantime, she’s got an immensely popular YouTube account, and her first single, ‘You Set Me Free’ was released this month; you can check out out on iTunes. Later this year she will perform with Jessie J in the UK on the ‘Nice to Meet You’ tour.

After nine seasons, ‘The Office’ closed up shop last night (May 17), but not without giving the cast of characters a hard-rocking send off. The finale centered around a pair of events — Dwight and Angela’s wedding and the shooting of DVD bonus content for the documentary — with the office co-workers reuniting a full year after the series penultimate episode. As expected for a series finale, there were a number of poignant moments, and luckily for rock fans they were soundtracked by some harder rocking favorites.

A majority of the music came during Dwight and Angela’s wedding as the office manager wed his bride to the sounds of several classic songs. A softer string version of Guns N’ Roses‘ ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ plays as Phyllis carries a hobbled Angela down the aisle to meet her groom to be.

For fans of the show, it should not be a surprise that Dwight chose a Motley Crue song for their first dance. After all, his pre-sales call ritual always consisted of rocking out Motley Crue’s ‘Kickstart My Heart’ guitar solo in the back of his car to get pumped up. In this case, Dwight dug a little deeper into the Crue catalog for ‘Angela,’ a song off the band’s 1991 ‘Decade of Decadence’ collection.

Even as Dwight Shrute evolved from young sales associate to office manager, he never lost his love for hard rock and heavy metal and he reflects that in the year since the last episode he’s gotten even closer with his co-workers. He cites Meredith Palmer as the one office worker who truly knows how to headbang to Motorhead, as the camera shows them taking a break in the parking lot rocking out to the band.

All in all, it was a very rocking finale and a great way to send off the cast and crew after nine great years.

‘The Hangover Part III‘ is due out in a week, and the one thing the trailers and posters have hammered home is that this is the final chapter of the series. The movie, which stars Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Ken Jeong, is promising closure and this latest (likely final) NSFW trailer plays up that this is the end.

The trailer begins by summarizing the events of the first and second film before leading into footage from the new movie, which starts with Zach Galifianakis saying he must resign from the wolf pack. It then shows some highlights from ‘Part III,’ which include the return of “Black Doug” (Mike Epps) and Leslie Chow (Jeong) acting like a reprehensible jerk. It’s Chow who gets the wolf pack in trouble — this time with John Goodman. Also, there’s lots of swearing.

Though ‘The Hangover Part III’ promises that it’s the end of the franchise, Hollywood has proved reticent about retiring films that make piles and piles of money, and — though most people didn’t like the second film as much as the first — the third film looks like another big hit. With many movie franchises wearing out their welcomes, we’re happy that they say this is the end… but we’ll believe it in ten years. ‘The Hangover Part III’ opens in theaters May 23. Holy balls! One of the fabled Metallica pinball machines has finally been revealed in full. In a new video posted by Stern Pinball, the entire machine is explained and showcased, with a ton of Metallica tracks and references ripe for the paddling.

Metallica revealed last month that custom pinball machines were in the works. The musicians of Metallica, especially guitarist Kirk Hammett, are avid pinball fans, so if KISS can have a pinball machine, why not Metallica?

“After year’s of playing on Kirk [Hammett]‘s machines at HQ, we jumped at the idea when Stern Pinball came to us with some designs and ideas some time ago,” Metallica write on their official website. “The machines will include 12 ‘Tallica songs with ‘Master of Puppets,’ ‘One’ and ‘Fade to Black’ among them. Features will include an electric chair, snake, grave markers and lots of others bells and whistles along with art by our friend Dirty Donny.”

Game designer John Borg takes us through one of the three Metallica pinball machines, which integrates albums such as ‘Master of Puppets’ and ‘Death Magnetic’ into the machine’s gameplay. ‘Creeping Death,’ ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls,’ ‘Fuel,’ ‘Master of Puppets,’ ‘The Unforgiven,’ ‘Seek and Destroy,’ ‘Battery,’ ‘Sad But True,’ ‘Enter Sandman,’ ‘One,’ ‘Fade to Black’ and ‘The End of the Line’ are all included to complete the machine’s soundtrack.
