‘Twilight Zone’ Movie Enters Twilight Zone

Warner Brothers has been looking to make a new version of a ‘The Twilight Zone’ movie for a while now, and had Matt Reeves (director of ‘Cloverfield’ and ‘Let Me In’) attached with a script being rewritten by Anthony Peckham (who wrote the upcoming ‘Jack Ryan‘). Now it looks like the project is up for grabs as Reeves has left the project.

And it looks like Matt Reeves left the project for a television home, as The Hollywood Reporter noted that he recently signed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox television (h/t to Collider for this info). The news of his departure was broken by Variety’s Justin Kroll on his Twitter feed, and adds the film now is an ODA. What’s an ODA? An Open Director’s Assignment.

Warner Brothers had originally thrown some A-list directors names around that they wanted to work on the film (like Christopher Nolan), and if they want to make an exceptionally expensive movie they may go back to them. But with Reeves attached, it seems that the more recently thinking was something that wouldn’t be a budget buster. With Reeves off and no one currently attached, either we’ll see a quick replacement or the studio will go back to the drawing board.
