Not even a Little Leaguer would swing at this.

Josh Fuentes, a Rockies prospect playing for the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats, found himself getting notice for his play for all the wrong reasons after he struck out on a pitch that barely cleared the lip of the pitcher's mound.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies pitcher Cory Burns lost control during his delivery and the ball went about right down on the ground and limply rolled toward the first base line where the catcher retrieved it. Fuentes, meanwhile, swung his bat like he was warming up, unaware that since the ball was still live, he actually swung at the pitch.

His blunder took place with two strikes and two outs, ending the inning.

Fuentes, of course, was stunned at the call, while the home crowd was delighted with the unorthodox out.

Binghamton went on to win, 5-4. Fuentes, meanwhile, had better not be expecting a phone call from the big club with a promotion anytime soon.
