The Last of Us Remastered’s Character Models to Outmatch PS3 Edition’s Cutscene Quality
Looks like the infected will have its fungi appear a lot more detailed as The Last of Us Remastered’s character models are going to rival cutscene-quality.
CVG reports that the visual fidelity of the PlayStation 4 version of The Last of Us will outmatch the original game’s cutscenes, according to Naughty Dog’s creative director Neil Druckmann. He said that the PlayStation 3 version of The Last of Us used detailed character and object models up-close while frequently switching to lower-res versions of the same characters/models in shots that were further away from the camera. Druckmann claims that the PlayStation 4 will be able to display the highest quality versions at all times without any drop in frame rate.
“Our cinematics are now running at 1080p and 60fps, and that involved rendering them all from scratch. It’s interesting that now [instead of a technical bottleneck], the bottleneck is ‘Can we fit all this on the disc?'” said Druckmann..
Naughty Dog has also improved lighting, enemy models, cutscene quality and a few tweaks for the sake of optimizing The Last of Us Remastered, which is still going to be a straightforward port. The Last of Us Remastered will be launching on June 20 exclusively for PS4 and will include all of the downloadable content packs featured in the PS3 version’s Season Pass, which includes the Left Behind campaign
