I have quite a few kids on my Facebook feed (well, "kids" to me). It truly bums me out when I see such a high mistrust of government, with most of it being misplaced.

If you're really looking for a solid example of a lying government, look no further than the DEA's recent ruling on marijuana.

Guess what, Mr. Government Man? You aren't going to convince anyone that Marijuana is bad. You aren't going to convince anyone that it is not helpful to some people. All you're going to do is convince people that you're full of crap and misinformation.

The DEA has said no to a bid to remove weed from its Schedule I classification. This classification puts pot along with LSD and Heroin, and actually classifies it as worse than oxycodone or meth.

The DEA tries to justify this classification as not being about danger, but about possible uses. This is complete nonsense. Marijuana has already shown promise in helping with seizures, with PTSD, as a pain med and appetite enhancer for cancer patients, and, most of all, as a more harmless way to relax than alcohol.

We have an entire state next to us that hasn't gone schizo and has seen an economic upswing as a result of marijuana legalization.

In a poll taken last October, 58 percent of Americans want pot to be legalized. It's not up to the government to tell us what is good for us. It's up to the government to respond to the wishes of the people.

It's beyond time for the government to drop this failed prohibition and quit lying to the American people.
