Legendary British rockers the Cult made their way to New York’s Terminal 5 on Friday night (June 8 ) for a serious rock ‘n’ roll party in support of their new album ‘Choice of Weapon.’ The show was supported by the bands Against Me! and the Icarus Line.

Frontman Ian Astbury donned his glasses and fur collared jacket along with his beloved tambourine. Some lucky fans even went home with tambourines, as he threw a few into the crowd after he played them.

Astbury belted out classics such as ‘She Sells Sanctuary,’ ‘Fire Woman,’ ‘Rain’ and the set-closer ‘Love Removal Machine.’ They also played new tunes ‘Honey From a Knife,’ ‘The Wolf’ and ‘Lucifer’ off their critically acclaimed new album.

Bassist Chris Wyse and drummer John Tempesta had great stage presence, as did guitarist Billy Duffy, who shredded it up and nailed blistering solos in front of spirited fans.

Earlier in the night, the punk rockers of Against Me! stormed the stage with an energetic set that pumped up the audience and rallied crowd surfers. Singer Laura Jane Grace, formerly Tom Gabel, who recently came out as a transgender, celebrated this transition by performing a cover of the Replacements’ ‘Androgynous’ with none other than punk rock icon Joan Jett.

L.A. band the Icarus Line started off the night, and despite frontman Joe Cardamone’s attempt to invoke his inner Iggy Pop, the band didn’t quite connect with the fans the same way Against Me! and the Cult did later on in the night.
