Texas Substitute Teacher Duct Tapes Students’ Mouths Shut
A substitute teacher in Kileen, Texas was removed from the classroom after duct taping several students’ mouths shut. Terry Abbott, a spokesperson for the school district said the teacher was removed from the classroom and parents of students at the school were notified of the incident. The teacher was substituting at Maxdale Elementary School, when the teacher put the duct tape on mouths of ten students, while three others put tape on their owns mouths in protest over the action.
Terry Abbott, the spokesperson for the Kileen Independent School District released this statement:
“As soon as school leaders learned of this incident, all 13 students were taken to the school nurse for observation and any treatment necessary. All 13 students are well and continued with their classes afterwards. The substitute teacher was immediately removed from the classroom and barred from the campus as a result of this outrageous and unconscionable behavior. Child Protective Services was notified and the district will support any additional investigation by law enforcement authorities. The leadership of Maxdale Elementary School and Killeen ISD are deeply saddened by this event.”
