A new report looked at which states where people are the most vulnerable to identity theft and fraud. And there's bad news for Texans.

Cybercrime has been on the rise in the United States and no American is immune to being a victim of a cyber attack. The Equifax breach was announced back in September and was one of the largest data breaches in recent history. The Identity Theft Research Center began tracking identity theft cases back in 2005 and recently announced that 2017 had the highest number of cases ever on record. Even though the government and private companies continue to make improvements to their cyber security, hackers unfortunately keeping getting better as well.

Personal-finance website WalletHub decided to look at what states were the most vulnerable to identity theft and fraud. They took 8 key metrics including Identity Theft Complaints, Highest Average Loss Mount Due To Online Identity Theft, Most Fraud Complaints per Capita and Highest Average Loss Amount Due To Fraud. Using these metrics, Texas came in 5th for Most Fraud Complaints per Capita and tied for the Highest Average Loss Amount Due To Fraud.
