Texas’ power, strength and leadership will be the top item of discussion during the 2012 WINDPOWER Summit that will be held this year by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) in Atlanta Georgia from June 3rd through June 6th. Over 90 Texas based wind energy companies will exhibit their wares and show off their expertise during this year’s event. The Summit is expected to attract over 12,000 wind power/energy professionals from around the world.

Texas is home to seven of the top 10 largest American wind farms. Texas is the nation’s leader in wind energy   installations, thus providing the Lone Star State with over 9,000 jobs and those 9,000 wind energy workers provide power for approximately 2.7 million homes.

Interestingly enough, the entire 4 day summit will be powered solely by wind energy. From my house I can see dozens of windmills to the southwest of Abilene, where before it was just skyline and sunsets. Do you think the wind farms are good, or are they destroying our rustic West Texas scenery?
