This is the best news I've heard in a long time. The Texas House named Pecan Pie as the Official State Pie of Texas. Luckily I just learned how to make a pecan pie.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Marsha Farney, a Republican from Georgetown. This is her first year and she got a little bit of teasing from her fellow representatives, but they passed the bill nonetheless.

Pecan pie has always been one of my favorites and I'm excited that it is now an official state food! I'm not sure this is something our Representatives need to be focusing on but I'm sure it didn't take up a whole lot of their time. I mean it's an easy choice, what other kind of pie would you choose? Apple? No, that's more of an 'American' pie. Cherry? No that's more of a Washington D.C. pie; since that's where they have all of the Cherry trees. Boston Cream? Um...well I think that one is self-explanatory. But when you say Pecan Pie you think of the South and now Texas.

So we have the Mockingbird, the Bluebonnet, the Monarch Butterfly, the Pecan tree and now the Pecan Pie!
