Rick Perry is the longest-serving governor in Texas history and is apparently ready to call it quits. The former GOP candidate made the announcement at a news conference in San Antonio today (7/8).

Perry has been the governor of Texas since 2000 and just announced he will not seek reelection and will carry out service of the remainder of this current term (through 2014).

That announcement, though, feeds speculation that he might run for president on the Republican ticket in 2016.
