Must have missed seeing this event in the freshmen orientation pamphlet.....

Texas A&M has canceled a planned "White Lives Matter" event for September 11th on the campus. . The event, which was billed as "Today Charlottesville, Tomorrow Texas A&M," was organized by Preston Winginton and he said he was inspired for the event by the "Unite The Right" event in Virginia. After the violence and protests at the "Unite The Right" event in Charlottesville, Virginia, the university has decided to cancel the event. Texas A&M said that the event could create a "major security risk" on the campus.

After the decision was announced, event organizer Winginton told the Houston Chronicle that school school officials "think they're above the law" and he is planning to sue the school. He told Texas A&M's Battalion that his event would "sponsor white identity and white pride" and "protest the liberal anti-white agenda."

Texas A&M says you can't say they don't allow free speech since the school allowed white supremacist Richard Spencer to speak there back in December. The university didn't cancel the event but did come out condemning Spencer's ideas calling them "odious and reprehensible." In the wake of the events in Charlottesville, Virginia the university felt that "in this case, circumstances and information relating to the event have changed. School officials said that there were "risks of threat to life and safety" if the event was held.
