Weezer’s ‘Blue Album’ Getting Reissued Again
Weezer‘s all about nostalgia lately. So it’s no surprise that their notorious first release, ‘The Blue Album,’ is getting reissued for the second time. The debut – responsible for the band’s success, and originally released in May 1994 – will hit the shelves once again on Aug. 13. This re-re-release is part of Universal’s Back to Black push, a stream of classic launches to celebrate the 60th anniversary of vinyl.
Weezer to Tour to Australia After 16-Year Absence
Sometimes we American music fans take our bands for granted. The United States is such a huge market that most artists make the land of the free a must in their touring plans. Australians, on the other hand, will have to wait years for some acts to even be in the same timezone. Weezer are one of those bands, but now they plan to visit the land down-under for the first time in 16 years.
Weezer Map Out More 2012 Tour Dates
Weezer have announced a smattering of North American dates that will keep them on the road as late as Nov. 10-11 in Orlando, Fla. The geek-rock veterans, whose latest album was 2010′s ‘Death to False Metal,’ start out the trek on July 13 in Buffalo, N.Y., with a handful of July dates and another handful of October and November dates buttressing their Sept. 15 appearance at the Charm City Music Festival in Baltimore, Md.
Did Ex-Weezer Bassist Mikey Welsh Predict His Own Death on Twitter?
We predict this is one of the oddest stories you’ll see all week: Ex-Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh was found dead in a hotel room last week, and in a strange twist, he might have actually predicted the date and locations of his demise on Twitter just a couple of weeks earlier.
On September 26, the 40-year-old artist posted the tweet below, saying, “dreamt i died in Chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today.” He even corrected himself in a tweet a little later, saying his vision was actually of the weekend after next. He was found dead on Saturday, October 8 in Chicago.
Former Weezer Bassist Mikey Welsh Dies at 40
Mikey Welsh, who played bass with the band Weezer from 1998 to 2001 before going on to a career as an artist, was found dead in the Chicago Raffaello Hotel on Saturday.
Hotel staff discovered the 40-year-old’s body in his room at 2:50 p.m. when he failed to complete check-out procedures. An autopsy is being performed, but police say no foul play is suspected.

Weezer has announced the "Weezer Cruise," which will set sail from Miami to the island of Cozumel off the coast of Mexico on January 19th, 2012, returning to Florida on the 23rd. They're calling it a "music festival at sea" of sorts.
