Van Halen to Play Intimate NYC Gig on Thursday
This month will be a big one for Van Halen fans, as the band is expected to debut the leadoff single from its long-awaited new album and start selling tickets for its 2012 world tour. But for a few lucky spectators at New York’s Cafe Wha?, the fun will begin this Thursday (Jan. 5), when the band takes the small club’s stage for what’s rumored to be a 45-minute, invitation-only warm-up set.
Van Halen Tour Rehearsal Details Revealed
Van Halen surprised everyone on Dec. 26 with the news of their upcoming world tour and then a couple days later with news of their new album’s Feb. 7 release date, but when you’re one of the biggest bands in the world, stuff like this just doesn’t happen overnight — the plans have obviously been in the works for quite some time.
Van Halen Album Release Date Revealed
The day after Christmas, Van Halen teased long-suffering fans with the news of a 2012 tour, coupled with new performance footage and a mysterious graphic saying only “2.7.12″ — and ever since, we’ve been trying to figure out what it all means.

New Van Halen Album Now Rumored for Early 2012
For fans of Van Halen‘s original lineup, the band’s last three decades or so have been punctuated with more than a few frustrations and disappointments, including their brief reunion with David Lee Roth in 1996, bassist Michael Anthony’s rudely handled dismissal, and an overall lack of new music since a pair of new tracks were appended to the double-disc ‘Best of Both Worlds’ compilation way back in 2004.
Roth has been back in the band since 2006, with rumors of a new album persistently surfacing over the last five years. The buzz has grown louder than ever this year, and for awhile, it looked like this might finally be the year Van Halen came back — but it looks like we’ll have to keep on waiting.
Van Halen New Album Rumor Round-Up
We still haven’t seen any official announcements from the band, but it’s clear that something is happening in the world of Van Halen — and the latest mini-flurry of VH activity, which includes the band’s first official Facebook page and a warning from vocalist David Lee Roth to ‘get ready…,’ has sparked a new round of rumors regarding their long-awaited new album.
The new collection, which will be Van Halen’s first full-length album since 1998′s ‘III’ and first with Roth since way back in ’1984,’ has reportedly been finished with an assortment of producers led by John Shanks. Now, rumors are pointing to a fall release.

So Sammy hasn't completely closed the door on rejoining Van Halen and there are reports that VH is currently recording a new album with Dave. On both counts...I'll believe it when I see it. All the chaos aside, Van Halen is still one of my favorite bands of all time.
