'Scary Movie 5′ Review

My disdain of the 'Scary Movie' franchise came early. I distinctly recall seeing the 'Scary Movie 2' poster, which featured Kathleen Robertson wearing a t-shirt that says "I See Dead People." This isn't a joke. It's just a reference. It isn't clever, it isn't witty - it's just saying a thing from another movie. It's not funny.

Almost 10 years later, 'Scary Movie 5' still suffers from this debilitating problem. There is absolutely nothing funny about going 'Inception'-style into Christian Grey's S&M room and having Mike Tyson show up. Yet, if you are somehow able to ignore the lowest common denominator pop culture appearances (I hesitate to even call them jokes) there are a great number of truly amusing gags and examples of rapid fire dialogue zings. Put bluntly: when the film is freed from the shackles of its referencing mandate, there's some good, dopey humor in here. Much to my surprise, I laughed out loud a good half-dozen times.

Now, however, the spotlight truly shines on the notoriously stroubled starlet, as Lifetime has released the first official trailer for Lohan's "comeback" release Elizabeth Taylor biopic 'Liz & Dick'! Lindsay Lohan claimed she's a newly reformed actress ready to make good on her commitments, but old habits are hard to break. Since filming began on 'Scary Movie 5,' which she's set to appear in with fellow "reformed" mess Charlie Sheen, she "missed every meeting" and skipped out on wardrobe fittings in an attempt to get out of the film. Not to mention she was found unconscious while filming 'Liz & Dick' and got in a serious car accident, which also violated the insurance policy she signed with Lifetime for the flick. Now she's getting into even more shenanigans as just this morning she was arrested for hitting a man with her porsche in New York City. What do you think? Is this yet another attempt to get herself fired from 'Scary Movie 5'?

TMZ reports that the troubled actress has already been released from jail. She was supposed to stay at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA for 30 days, but was released early this morning at 1:30 a.m. after residing there for a whopping four and a half hours.

During a court appearance on Wednesday, she admitted violating her probation and has been ordered to turn herself in before November 9 to begin serving a 30-day sentence in the Los Angeles County Jail. However, a sheriff’s department spokesperson says Lohan will likely serve just 20 percent of that sentence, or six days, due to overcrowding.
