Jared Marcum, an 8th grader in Logan, County West Virginia, has been expelled from school, arrested and is facing charges of disrupting an educational process and obstructing an officer. All of this from simply wearing a NRA t-shirt with a hunting rifle featured on it. However, he didn't violate any school policies by doing so.
The AR-15 is one of my top three favorite guns to shoot, but lately it seems that the gun and it's ammunition have gone through the roof. A friend called me from Dallas last Friday, he asked me if I still wanted an AR-15. I told him "yes but I'm not about to pay these absurd prices everyone is asking for AR's now, besides I'm in radio I can't afford it." AR-15's are selling for as low as 1,100 to 3,500 dollars, it's simple low supply and high demand. According to my friend Craig Stephens, there are several stores that are getting in some good shipments and the prices are down. A couple of stores in the DFW area are putting AR's out by the dozens.
I'm writing this in direct response/correlation to my time spent on Facebook. You can't mention guns, religion or the Dallas Cowboys (even in the nicest way) without starting a 'war of words'. It seems there are more preachers, head coaches and constitutional scholars on Facebook than there are in the biggest of cities
For the record, I'm a 'gun' owner (we call them weapons in the Army) and all for gun ownership. I have mixed feelings about all this 'gun control' talk though. However, that's not what I'm writing about right now.
I have 2 simple words everyone should know and live by when it comes to owning a firearm: EDUCATION & RESPECT.
The Texas Gun & Knife Show will return to Abilene this weekend at the Abilene Civic Center. There will be plenty for hunters, fishers, and all around outdoor enthusiasts. The show will have a number of vendors with goods from books, jewelry, sports equipment to of course, guns and knives.
