Abilene is well known for having several churches, so it's no surprise that another church has opened in the Key City. However, this new church has a big twist as Southern Hills Church of Christ will now be holding 'Bar Church' services.
The Texans, a Christian singing group is scheduled to appear at the Elmwood Baptist Church on the corner of South 14th and Barrow Street. The group will perform on Sunday, December 16th at 6 PM. This will be a family event as this is a free Christian Christmas Concert. The Texans began their musical career at Dallas Christian College in 1971. Today the perform mainly in Branson Missouri since their first show there in 1983 but were known to take to the road and tour, as is the case here in Abilene.
It's that time of year, when civic clubs and church organization put on their Arts and Crafts fairs, Holiday Bazaars, Bake Sales and various Holiday shopping extravaganzas. The Women of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be hosting their annual 'Christmas Bazaar' on Saturday, December 1st and Sunday, December 2nd on the church property.
With the Halloween season quickly approaching, it's time to start thinking about what you want to do when All Hallows Eve gets here. Regardless of age, there's something for everyone around the Abilene area, making Halloween one of the most active holidays.
So I was recently asked about the best place to hook up at in Abilene. My initial reaction was "why are you asking me?", I then followed with a crude joke. Then again, that's what you expected, right?
