The unreleased second music video for the Black Keys‘ ‘Gold on the Ceiling’ has finally surfaced. Directed by oddball filmmaker Harmony Korine, the unconventional clip features the duo dressed in baby onesies, carried around by their much larger doppelgangers.
We’ve got less than a week before the 2012 MTV Movie Awards are scheduled to take place, but the network is still busy announcing performers — including the Black Keys, who will take the stage on Sunday (June 3) to deliver their single ‘Gold on the Ceiling.’
The Black Keys have announced more 2012 U.S. tour dates that will bring them back out on the roads of America in October. The brief West Coast trek in support of their latest album, last year’s ‘El Camino,’ kicks off on Oct. 1 in Fresno, Calif., and currently is scheduled through an Oct. 10 gig in Las Cruces, N.M., with Canadian duo Tegan and Sara slated to open all stops.
Rock started losing its primacy on the charts in the ’80s, and these days, the Top 40 is almost exclusively the domain of pop and hip-hop acts — a state of affairs that has prompted a steady flow of “is rock dead?” editorials over the last couple of decades. Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney isn’t willing to bury the genre just yet, but during a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he singled out Nickelback as a major cause of rock’s decline on the charts.
Despite pop stars and Christmas albums ruling the charts, rock acts are claiming their spots on the Billboard 200 tally.
