Surgeon Simulator Anniversary Edition Coming to PS4
Clean off your scalpels, wipe down your operating tables and renew your malpractice insurance, because Surgeon Simulator is getting a PS4-exclusive Anniversary Edition next week.
Surgeon Simulator’s PC release last year has become something of a YouTube sensation. Dozens of channels feature countless videos of players hilariously attempting to perform delicate surgery with the game’s insane, counter-intuitive control scheme. Today, the PlayStation Blog announced that the game will come to the PlayStation 4 in the form of an Anniversary Edition on August 12.
The Anniversary Edition will include the PC release’s operating theater and ambulance, the eye and teeth transplant sections from the iPad release and the spacecraft operations from the Codename Trisha update. Hopefully, the DualShock 4 control scheme is just as inscrutable and enigmatic as the original’s controls, or else the game would suffer significantly. Surgeon Simulator isn’t about doing everything efficiently and correctly; it’s about the hilarity that ensues when you don’t.
Games like Surgeon Simulator, QWOP and Octodad: Dadliest Catch have essentially created a new genre of difficult-to-control games that we’re extremely excited about. For too long, humor has been ignored as a gameplay goal. We have literally thousands of games designed to scare, thrill or entrance us, so why not make a few designed to make us laugh?
Surgeons need to know their drugs before going into work. That sounds a lot like us.
