Suicide Is Not The Answer

We just had a high profile celebrity suicide. We have no idea why at this point, but short of terminal illness or the inability to keep from hurting others, there is no excuse.

When you kill yourself, you don't cure anything. You just took your misery and passed in along to everyone who's ever known you. You have started one of the ugliest viruses known to man called "hopelessness". When you kill yourself, you don't "teach them a lesson". You just make everything darker.  I don't believe you'll ever get a chance to revel in the misery you passed along. You're just going to fade out while the problems you left behind multiply.

I don't know how many sleepless nights I've had worrying about one thing or another, only to find that it amounted to nothing the next day. That is what they call "the promise of a new day". Until your final moments, there is always time for things to get better. There is always hope. Your joy may come in the shape of helping others or just in hanging out with your dog, but there will always be something of promise around the corner.

Your death will serve no purpose, but there's always a chance your life can. Live it.
