It's been four years since death metal juggernauts Suffocation released Pinnacle of Bedlam and that's all changed with the earth-churning new track, "Your Last Breaths," off the forthcoming Of the Dark Light.

The song explores some fresh territory for the band that helped lay out the blueprint for both brutal and technical death metal over a quarter century ago. Opening with a mid-tempo pace and busy rhythm accented with Cannibal Corpse-esque hammer-ons, a sinister melody underscores the atmosphere, giving way to Suffocation's more expected sound of fret-flying technicality and Frank Mullen's unflinching raspy growl.

Guitarist Terrance Hobbs commented on the record, stating, "Suffocation worked through the end of 2016 to hash out and lay down the tracks at Full Force Studios with Joe Cincotta and once again enlisted Zeuss to bring this creation to life! Myself, Frank Mullen, Charles Errigo, Eric Morotti and Derek Boyer have all pushed the limit of what Suffocation is and we hope you enjoy it!"

"We also had the honor of having Colin Marks handling our artwork which is a new frontier for us and a different avenue and style to the traditional Suffocation records," Hobbs continued. "We also included some backup vocals from Kevin Muller (The Merciless Concept) which for us makes this album very unique!  This will be our 10th studio release and we really hope you like ...Of The Dark Light! Keep the grind alive and hope to see you on the road!"

Of the Dark Light will be out on June 9 through Nuclear Blast and pre-orders can be placed at the label's webstore where fans can explore a variety of formats including CD, cassette, colored vinyl, bundles and digital options.
