Stone Sour have just unleashed their ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ and the animated video for the first single ‘Do Me a Favor’ has had viewers dropping their jaws. Among the biggest fans of the clip is none other than Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor himself.

Loudwire recently spoke with Taylor and he talked about his first reaction to seeing the ‘Do Me a Favor’ video, as well how the hit song itself came together.

The ‘Do Me a Favor’ video is amazing. How much were you geeking out the first time you saw it?

It is pretty f—ing bad-ass, right? I was f—ing blown away, man. I ran around with my computer to everybody, like, ‘Oh s—!’ I was so stoked. But you’ve got to understand, I was stoked just from getting screen shots that Phil was sending me, Phil Mucci, the director.

This was something where we really tried to capture one of the big moments in the short story itself and we wanted to make sure we were showing a part of the story that was the culmination of everything. This was where this whole story was starting to lead towards. I let Phil run with some of the more visuals and it’s over the top of what I had in mind for the story, but I was so in love with the visuals and the way that it moved that I didn’t even care. At this point, I was like, ‘Man, do your thing!’ I just loved his videos that he’s done in the past, whether it’s High on Fire or Pig Destroyer, those videos are so visually stunning that I knew that it would be a great way to tie everything together with that one song, ‘Do Me a Favor,’ and he knocked it out of the damn park.

How did the actual song ‘Do Me a Favor’ come together and how does it fit into the bigger story of the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ albums?

It’s a great story about ‘Do Me a Favor.’ It was one of the last songs that we actually did a lot of rewrite on. It almost didn’t make the album to be honest. It had a much more bluesier vibe to it when we were first putting it together. It just didn’t have the same urgency that the rest of the album had and we were sitting there for days trying to figure out what we were going to do cause I knew I wanted it on the album because it told a very specific part of the story from [the character of] Allen’s standpoint.

But Josh [Rand] and Jim [Root] took the music away and revamped it and gave it a much more heavier feel and then we just kept the chorus the exact same way and then the ending, of course, to ‘A Rumor of Skin’ from ‘Part 1.’ We knew that we wanted it in there and we knew that it had to change and luckily it did. It elevated itself to beyond the expectations. I still remember the Roadrunner people when they came in to listen to everything and they’d only ever heard it in the demo form and it changed so much that and was such a different vibe to it that they just sat back and went, ‘Whoa! What the hell is this?’ So I knew we were onto something with that song once we captured the essence of what we really wanted to do.
